Your Plan at Barre Groove: A Guide to Getting Started (and Getting Results) from Trampoline Fitness
Starting something new is the hardest part. We hear it all the time: “I’m not coordinated enough for the trampoline.” Spoiler alert: you are. Here’s exactly how to get started at Barre Groove so you feel good while doing it.
Key Takeaways
- ✓Every new Barre Groove member follows the same path — and everyone who sticks with it finds their groove.
- ✓The first few classes are about learning The Bounce Method™. Give yourself permission to be a beginner.
- ✓If you follow this path and stick to it, you will find your groove.
- ✓Starting with Beginner Bounce: Bounce Foundations sets you up to get more out of every class that follows.
Why the First Few Classes Feel Different
The trampoline is unlike any other fitness surface. The first time you step onto a mini trampoline, your body is doing something new — learning how to distribute weight on an elastic surface, how to stay stable while bouncing, how to engage muscles you’ve never had to consciously recruit before. It takes a few classes for that to start feeling natural.
This is normal. It’s not a sign that Barre Groove isn’t for you. It’s a sign that your body is learning. The members who stick with it past the first two or three classes almost universally describe the same shift: something clicks, the movements start to feel familiar, and what felt overwhelming starts to feel like the best part of their week.
The plan below is designed to get you to that click as quickly and confidently as possible.
Your Barre Groove Starting Plan
Beginner Bounce: Bounce Foundations
Your first class at Barre Groove should be Beginner Bounce. It’s a full 45-minute class specifically designed to introduce The Bounce Method™ — slower-paced, coaching-first, and built around giving you the foundational technique that makes every class after it more effective. You’ll learn Basic Bounce, the foundational movement patterns, upper body and lower body sculpting, and finish feeling confident and capable on the trampoline.
Even if you’re already active — a runner, a lifter, someone who does pilates or other fitness classes — you’ll get a lot out of this class. The Bounce Method™ is specific, and building the right foundation from the start means every class after this one delivers more.
Class: Beginner Bounce: Bounce FoundationsBounce & Barre + Sculpt 45
Once you’ve done Beginner Bounce, move into Bounce & Barre — our foundational format. It’s a 50/50 split between trampoline cardio and barre-inspired sculpting, and it’s where The Bounce Method™ really starts to come alive. Take this one to three times before moving on. Each class you’ll pick up more of the combinations, your form will sharpen, and the effort will start producing results you can feel.
Alongside Bounce & Barre, try Sculpt 45 — our dedicated strength format with no bouncing. It uses the trampoline as a platform for resistance work with heavy bands and dumbbells, and it shows you how the trampoline elevates strength, not only cardio. If you’re looking to build strength, Sculpt 45 is a great anchor in your weekly routine from the very beginning.
Classes: Bounce & Barre, Sculpt 45Bounce & Bands
When Bounce & Barre starts to feel like home, add Bounce & Bands to your rotation. It’s the same 50/50 cardio-sculpt structure with the addition of resistance bands, which takes the upper body and endurance work to the next level. The foundational bounce technique you’ve built makes this format immediately accessible — and the resistance element adds a new challenge that keeps your body progressing.
Class: Bounce & BandsDance & Define and BOOST
Once The Bounce Method™ feels natural, the full Barre Groove schedule opens up. Dance & Define is a dance-inspired format that challenges your coordination and rhythm in a completely different way — joyful, high-energy, and one of our most popular classes. BOOST is cardio-forward, with 75% trampoline work and 25% sculpting — the class for the weeks when you want to push your cardiovascular system hardest.
At this point you have a full rotation: Bounce & Barre or Bounce & Bands for your cardio-strength combination, Sculpt 45 for dedicated strength, and BOOST or Dance & Define for variety and intensity. That’s a complete training program in one studio.
Classes: Dance & Define, BOOSTWhy It’s Worth Sticking Through the Early Classes
Here’s what happens when you stay consistent through the first few weeks of Barre Groove. In weeks one and two, your nervous system is building the motor patterns that make the movements feel familiar. Your stabilizer muscles are waking up. The combinations that felt impossible start to click, one at a time.
By weeks three and four, your posture starts to shift. You feel stronger getting off the trampoline than you did getting on. The cardiovascular improvement becomes noticeable — the intervals that had you breathless in week one start to feel manageable. The soreness in muscles you didn’t know you had starts to mean something.
By month two, you have a routine. You know which class times work for your schedule, you recognize faces in the room, and you’re already looking forward to the next class while you’re still sweaty from the current one. That’s when results stop being something you hope for and start being something you notice.
The most important thing you can do in your first month
Come back after the class that felt hard. Everyone has at least one class in their first few weeks that feels difficult, disorienting, or like maybe this isn’t for them. That class is almost always followed by one that clicks in a way that makes the hard one worth it. The members who stay with Barre Groove long-term are the ones who came back after the class that challenged them most.
Common Questions About Getting Started
Do I need any fitness experience to start at Barre Groove?
No. Beginner Bounce is specifically designed for people who have never bounced before, regardless of their fitness background. Some of our most dedicated long-term members walked in with zero group fitness experience. The method is taught from the ground up and your instructor will be in the room coaching you through every movement.
How many classes per week should I aim for as a new member?
Two to three classes per week is the sweet spot for building the habit and seeing results in the first month. One class per week will feel like starting over every time you come in. Three classes per week gives your body and brain enough repetition to build real familiarity with the method quickly. Start with what your schedule genuinely supports — consistency matters more than frequency.
What if I feel lost or behind in class?
This is completely normal in the first few classes and expected. Your instructor knows new members are in the room and is watching for people who need a little extra guidance. The best thing you can do is keep moving — even if it’s just the Basic Bounce while the rest of the room is doing a combination. You’re still getting the cardiovascular and stabilizer benefit, and the combinations will click faster than you expect.
When will I start to feel the results?
Most members notice changes in how they feel — energy, posture, how they carry themselves — within the first two to three weeks of consistent attendance. Visible body composition changes typically appear around the six to eight week mark for members attending two to three times per week. The cardiovascular improvement tends to be the first thing people notice: intervals that felt impossible in week one start to feel manageable by week three or four.
Is the Find Your Groove trial enough time to work through this plan?
The Find Your Groove trial gives you three classes for $49 — enough to do Beginner Bounce plus two Bounce & Barre classes, which is exactly the right starting point. Most members who go through the trial at that cadence finish it knowing whether Barre Groove is their thing. Spoiler: most of them already know by the end of the second class.
